Great to meet you!

Hi, I’m Matt. I work with adolescents and adults who feel overwhelmed, stuck, or burned out, often due to trauma, chronic stress, anxiety, cultural or identity-related stressors, and performance pressure. Many of the people I work with are capable and driven, yet feel disconnected from themselves or their relationships.

Before becoming a therapist, I spent many years working in the educational system as a principal, assistant principal, dean, and counselor. That experience gives me a deep understanding of adolescent development, family dynamics, school-related stress, and the systems that impact mental health.

My background in education and leadership informs a grounded, systems-aware approach to therapy. I help clients make sense of how expectations, culture, power dynamics, and life transitions affect their well-being, especially for adolescents and individuals from underserved or marginalized communities.

My approach to therapy

Therapy with me is a space to slow things down, feel genuinely heard, and gain clarity about what’s happening beneath the surface. My approach is practical and flexible, drawing from evidence-based strategies while adapting the work to your goals, needs, and lived experience.

I place a strong emphasis on the therapeutic relationship and work in a way that is warm, direct, and collaborative, balancing insight, structure, and real-world tools that support meaningful change.

Clients often tell me they leave sessions feeling clearer, more grounded, and better equipped to handle what's coming next, rather than feeling judged or pressured to have everything figured out right away.

What you can expect from me

In our first session, we’ll focus on getting to know each other and creating a space that feels safe, respectful, and grounded. We’ll talk about what brought you to therapy, what you’re hoping to work on, and any questions or concerns you may have.

My goal is for you to leave the first session feeling heard, supported, and clearer about next steps- without pressure to have everything figured out right away. We'll move at a pace that feels respectful and grounded, and I'll take time to answer any questions you have about therapy or the process.
