I have been practicing as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker for over 20 years and my career has taken me to multiple States as well as abroad. I have worked in various settings including inpatient, outpatient and community-based programs, substance abuse treatment centers, higher education, the criminal justice system and crisis intervention.
I believe that building strong rapport is the foundation of a fruitful therapeutic relationship. I focus a lot on skill development and helping people explore the situations that they are in from various perspectives. My clinical orientation could be categorized as Cognitive-Behavioral and Psychodynamic. However, without a strong rapport, I have found that acquisition of knowledge and skills is more difficult for anyone I have worked with.
The people that I work with tend to experience an increased and/or alternative understanding of the issues that they are confronted with. Clients have shared that they enjoy and have benefitted from skill development as well as having someone they feel comfortable opening up to about emotionally charged and difficult issues they are presented with in their lives.
