Great to meet you!

There is always a path beyond what you're struggling with now. For 35 years I've had the privilege to help people like you look at their lives. I've helped them find ways to directly look at the pain, fear, anger, shame, depression, trauma, and other struggles that feel overwhelming. More importantly, I've helped people move beyond today's focus on pain and struggle to discover new ways to manage their lives, to suffer less, to feel more space, trust, and aliveness.

I completed my MA in Buddhist and Contemplative Psychology in 1992 and have added extensive training in mindfulness, Somatic Experiencing, treatment of PTSD and complex trauma, Dialogue Therapy for couples, and addictions. But methods alone don't heal. We'll build a strong therapeutic partnership over time to help you feel like yourself again.

My approach to therapy

We all want to find the root of our suffering, and discover the path to a better life. The internet is full of people offering quick fixes and telling you what you need to be happy. But the answers aren't something outside of you. While I have years of experience to share, I know that the real answers lie inside you. Our explorations together, building on your awareness and expert knowledge of your own life, are what will lead us to your own version of a better life.Regardless of what we might call your "problem," we'll work with the negative emotions, destructive behaviors, and relationship confusion that create stress and pain. Directing our work towards discovering what works for you rather than staying stuck or rooted in destructive patterns comes from paying deep attention and developing new habits.

What you can expect from me

Our first session will be orientation, evaluation, and the beginning stages of therapy. We'll start by understanding your current "situation" and what brings you to therapy. I'll begin to understand who you are, establish how we create a safe space to look at your life, and begin to address your concerns. Before the end of our first session I would want to have at least a beginning understanding of what your goals for therapy are, and have taken first steps to move towards some relief and healing.
