Great to meet you!

I’m Max Stager, a Licensed Professional Counselor (MA, LPC, NLP) with over 20 years of clinical experience working with adults, couples, families, and teens. I help people find connection, clarity, and healthier ways of relating to themselves and others. My work often focuses on relationship issues, communication struggles, trauma recovery, and personal growth.

I integrate diverse therapeutic perspectives because life doesn’t fit neatly into one box. I work collaboratively with clients to build on your strengths, understand patterns that hold you back, and develop concrete tools that help you feel more confident and connected. Outside therapy I enjoy Colorado’s wide open spaces, time with animals, and cycling the trails around home.

My approach to therapy

My approach is client-centered, relational, and practical. Rather than imposing a single model, I tailor what we do together to fit your goals, personality, and readiness for change. I incorporate techniques from attachment-based work, emotionally focused and somatic practices, coaching frameworks, and person-centered therapy to help you make meaningful progress.

With couples I help identify interaction cycles, improve communication, and strengthen connection. With individuals and teens I focus on insight, skills building, and accountability — always attuned to what you need in the moment.

What you can expect from me

In your first session, we start by exploring what brought you in and what feels most important for you to address. I’ll ask questions that help clarify your goals, listen deeply to your concerns, and begin outlining a practical plan together. You’ll leave with a sense of direction and a feel for how our work can support the outcomes you want.
