Great to meet you!

I'm Max Cadena, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) born and raised in Los Angeles. I work with children, teens, young adults, adults, and families across the city, bringing a warm, grounded approach to therapy that's both evidence-based and genuinely human. My training at USC's School of Social Work, combined with years of clinical work across LA's schools, community programs, and private practice, shapes how I show up for every client. I care deeply about creating a space where people feel understood - not just as a presenting concern, but as a whole person.

My approach to therapy

I draw from CBT, DBT, interpersonal therapy, and psychodynamic approaches, tailoring my style to each person rather than using a one-size-fits-all method. I also work through an ecological and intersectional lens, which means I pay attention to the full context of someone's life - their family, culture, identity, and community - not just the symptoms they're dealing with. Whether I'm working with a seven-year-old, a teenager, or an adult navigating a major life transition, my goal is the same: help people understand themselves more fully and build real tools for everyday life.

What you can expect from me

The first session is low-pressure and conversational, and you don't need to have figured out anything before you arrive. For children and teens, I focus first on building comfort and trust, meeting them where they are rather than where I think they should be. For adults, we'll talk through what's bringing you in and start to get a sense of what you're hoping for. By the end, you'll have a clear picture of how I work and whether it feels like a good fit.
