Great to meet you!

Hello, I'm Maya, and I have worked in the mental health and social service fields for more than 20 years. I received my Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Addiction Studies from Lewis University. I have worked in crisis intervention for 14 years which has provided me invaluable experience with diverse mental health situations and populations. I have a special interest in working with those in emerging adulthood but enjoy working with everyone across the life span.

My approach to therapy

I believe life is full of possibilities, seen and unseen. My professional background is diverse from mental health and social services to education and media. I have work with people of all ages, races, ethnicities, and backgrounds. I love culture and have traveled to more than 18 countries. In my travels, I have always been humbled by the resilience and kindness of people. I lead my practice with a mindfulness based approach because I believe how you think determines how you live your life.

What you can expect from me

I view therapy as a truly personal and immersive experience for my client. The therapeutic relationship must have trust, transparency and unconditional positive regard. The work (yes, therapy requires work!) we embark upon is driven by the mental and emotional wants and needs of the client. You can expect at times you may need to get uncomfortable in therapy with me, in order to, get to the place of comfort you seek. Yet, you will always do the work in a place that is safe and accepting of you.
