Great to meet you!

Hi, I'm Mayra and I've worked with people of all ages as they move through stress, loss, and change. I see adults, teens, and families around anxiety, depression, trauma and PTSD, grief, anger, relationship strain, and the cultural and identity questions that often sit underneath all of it. My approach is non-judgmental and unhurried — I want you to feel safe enough to say the hard thing out loud, and confident that we'll work on it together.

My approach to therapy

I think of therapy as an opportunity to elevate the best version of ourselves — not to become someone different, but to get back to who you already are underneath the stress. I draw on a variety of treatment modalities and match them to you, rather than asking you to fit into one method. Much of my work is about helping you overcome the stressors in front of you while reminding you that you are not alone in this human experience. Culture, family, and context matter in that work, and I make room for all of it.

What you can expect from me

Our first session is mostly about getting to know each other. Building rapport is an essential part of the therapy process, so I'll spend time hearing your story and what brought you here now — you don't need to arrive with the right words or a clear plan. From there we'll start exploring both short-term and long-term goals, so you leave with a sense of where we're headed. You can also ask me anything about how I work; I'd rather you feel confident in the fit from the very first conversation.
