I have spent my career in high-acuity psychiatry, working with specialized populations where diagnostic accuracy and complex medication management are standard practice. Some patients come to safely simplify a complicated medication regimen. Some come after years of treatment that never quite worked. Others want a clear diagnosis and a plan they can follow. Whatever brings you in, you will get the whole picture taken seriously.

My prescribing is conservative. I aim for the fewest medications that account for your symptoms, and I would rather simplify a regimen than keep adding to it. I have worked extensively with people whose treatment stopped working, so I know the difference between a medication problem and a diagnosis problem, and I check for both.

Before adjusting anything, I rule out medical causes that can drive mood, sleep, and concentration problems, ordering targeted lab work when it will clarify the picture. You will always know the reasoning behind the plan. Patients who understand their treatment do better with it.
