Great to meet you!

With over 40 years of practice in social work, I remain committed and passionate about helping people to discover and amplify their voice, as well as uncovering what might be getting in the way of this. Interactive in style, I am fully present to hear what every client brings to the table, and collaborative as we move forward in our work together. My card reads, "Positive change through mindful choice," and I firmly believe that we all recognize what our choices are, we're able to make decisions that align with where we want to go. Also included on my business card are the three dots that symbolize both crisis and opportunity. Included in every crisis are opportunities, even if we are not able to see what those are at first. In times of crisis we may be open to trying a new road that previously seemed unavailable, or uncertain. this openness can lead to new growth, and hence the opportunities that arise.

My approach to therapy

I use a variety of approaches with clients, depending on the presentation, and who the client is. My training in family systems and psychodynamic therapy has been augmented by Internal Family Systems, Mindfulness Based work, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Emotional Focussed Therapy, and EMDR

What you can expect from me

In the first session, I like to understand what has brought the client to therapy at this time, and what the hopes are for treatment. I want to know what a client has tried already, what has worked, and what hasn't. Some general background is always helpful, as this lays the groundwork for understanding where someone has come from, and where they would like to be.
