Great to meet you!

I know what it's like to feel broken; it's one of the driving forces that drew me to become a therapist, wanting to accompany people through that darkness in their lives. Many of my clients find themselves at the intersection of eating concerns/ eating disorders/ body image concerns and spiritual distress. Most of my clients struggle with some iteration of anxiety or traumatic experiences, as well as existential dread. Most people are attracted to my practice because of my niche in Apostolic Christianity, specifically Orthodox Christianity and Roman Catholicism.

My approach to therapy

My Role As a Therapist...

I see my role as an interpreter; you're on a journey back Home, you have your map, but sometimes it's difficult to read the map, or it's hard to see the road ahead. I help folks relinquish the need for control, to pursue Life instead.

How I Approach Therapy

I work primarily from existential and humanistic lenses; over time, we tend to drill down deep to meta themes of life & death, meaning, freedom/ responsibility, and love/ belonging. If you've read the book "Man's Search for Meaning" by Viktor Frankl, who founded Logotherapy, you'll have a much closer idea of my views on psychotherapy.

What It Actually Looks Like

Practically speaking, I'm very hands-on, I take an active role, but I don't do the work for you. I'm comfortable with silence, and I'll give you space when you need to process. I am honest, straightforward, and compassionate, and you won't have to guess what I'm thinking - I'm not one of those therapists who keeps a straight face! I'll ask you the tough questions so that you get to the place of finding your own answers. Feedback that I consistently get is that my compassion and care comes through strongly.

What you can expect from me

Therapy is a relationship - we build trust over time through shared experiences. The first couple of sessions, we'll get to know each other, why you've decided to come talk, and how you'd like for things to be different a few months from now. Most people seek out counseling when they've noticed that something or someone is no longer bringing them Life, and that they have lost their Way or their why, and they need to find their way back Home. There's a lot of suffering in the world, and while I can't take away the pain, I can be with you in it, and accompany you through your process.
