Great to meet you!

I’m Megan Kenny, a board-certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner with a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree. I have approximately 15 years of experience in psychiatric care, including more than 10 years as a nurse practitioner. My background includes inpatient, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient, outpatient, and telehealth settings.

I provide comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and medication management for adults experiencing anxiety, depression, ADHD, PMDD, burnout, and challenges associated with major life transitions. I have a particular interest in working with women whose ADHD symptoms may have been overlooked earlier in life, as well as adults who appear to be functioning well but feel overwhelmed or exhausted internally.

My goal is to provide a space where you feel heard, taken seriously, and included in decisions about your treatment.

My approach to therapy

My approach is thoughtful, collaborative, and individualized. I take time to understand your current symptoms, psychiatric and medical history, previous treatment experiences, daily functioning, stressors, and goals. I believe effective psychiatric care requires looking beyond a checklist of symptoms and understanding how those symptoms are affecting your life.

When medication is appropriate, I prescribe carefully and explain the potential benefits, risks, limitations, and alternatives. We will work together to develop a treatment plan that is clinically appropriate, practical, and consistent with your preferences.

My role is to provide clear clinical guidance, help you understand your options, and ensure that you have an active voice in decisions about your care.

What you can expect from me

Your first session will be a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation focused on understanding what you are experiencing and how it is affecting your life. We will discuss your current concerns, symptoms, psychiatric and medical history, medications, previous treatment experiences, family history, daily functioning, and treatment goals.

I will ask detailed questions, but the appointment should feel like a conversation rather than an interview. You will have time to ask questions, discuss concerns about previous treatment, and share what you hope to gain from care.

At the end of the evaluation, I will explain my initial clinical impressions and recommendations. When appropriate, we will develop a treatment plan together, which may include medication, psychotherapy recommendations, further evaluation, or coordination with another healthcare professional. Occasionally, additional information or a follow-up appointment may be necessary before a diagnosis is finalized or medication is prescribed.
