Great to meet you!

Hi, I’m Mel Hodor, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) supporting teens, young adults, and adults in New York. I’ve worked in intensive outpatient and justice reform settings, and I enjoy working with people across a range of experiences—from anxiety, depression, bipolar and psychotic disorders to everyday stress, relationship conflict, and life transitions. I work well with individuals who may feel overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure of their path, and are looking for support navigating both ongoing challenges and day-to-day stressors. My approach is strengths-based and person-centered, creating a warm, supportive space to build insight, navigate challenges, and grow.

My approach to therapy

I take a warm, open-minded, and collaborative approach. I aim to create a space where you feel comfortable being yourself without judgment. Together, we’ll explore what’s been going on, build helpful tools, and work toward lasting change. I offer support along with honest feedback, and I value humor, authenticity, and seeing you as a whole person.

What you can expect from me

In our first session, you can expect a warm, welcoming, and nonjudgmental space where we move at your pace and take time to get to know you. We’ll talk about what’s bringing you in, what’s been going on lately, and what you’re hoping to get out of therapy, along with any parts of your story that feel important to share. I’ll ask some gentle questions to better understand your experiences and start noticing patterns, strengths, and what might feel helpful moving forward. Together, we’ll begin to shape goals and talk about what working together could look like, with the focus on building a supportive and collaborative space for you.
