Melissa Barreto

My name is Melissa, and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Florida and Massachusetts. I earned my Master’s degree from Nova Southeastern University in 2021.

I have worked in the mental health field since 2017 in a variety of roles. In addition to my clinical experience, I have three years of experience within the foster care system, including serving as an adoption case manager.

My areas of focus include trauma, ADHD, anxiety, depression, and related mental health concerns.

I utilize a range of therapeutic approaches and tailor treatment to meet each client’s unique needs, goals, and preferences. My goal is to create a collaborative and supportive therapeutic environment where we can identify what you hope to gain from therapy and develop a treatment plan that aligns with your individual needs.

During our first session, we will work together to determine the approach that feels most effective and meaningful for you.

During our initial session, we will review the counseling process, confidentiality, and informed consent. We will also discuss the challenges you are currently facing, identify your goals for therapy, and explore your existing strengths and supports.

My goal is to provide a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental therapeutic environment where you feel comfortable, heard, and understood. Together, we will work to develop a personalized set of coping skills and strategies to help you navigate challenges in your daily life. The overall goal is to help you feel empowered, confident, and better equipped to overcome obstacles and create meaningful change.
