In my sessions, I use trauma informed interventions like EMDR, CBT, AEDP, family systems and provide tools clients can do to uncover their trauma and enhance therapeutic results. I also teach relaxation and coping skills during sessions.
I use CBT, which emphasizes the relation between thoughts, attitudes, feelings and behaviors. I also use EMDR, AEDP, mindfulness, multicultural approaches, family systems, and teach coping skills. My clients thus client learn to observe how his or her thoughts, feelings and behaviors are interconnected. From that awareness, change is more attainable.
I know talking about your personal difficulties with a professional can be daunting, so I do my best to meet you where you are now. There is no pressure to discuss or modify anything about you that you are not ready to. I give practical handles, and offer activities in session to support you with a gentle demeanor and empathy.
Being EMDR trained allows me to better understand the impact of trauma on your current ways of thinking, feeling and relating to others. With EMDR I can help you overcome your traumatic past and experience the freedom you are looking for. I also love to explore attachment and inner child issues. If they are open to it, I also my Christian spirituality to support clients who are of the same faith.
In our first session, we will discuss your history and what you want to focus on in therapy. Based on your needs, preferences and strengths we will create a plan to reach your therapeutic goals and heal your symptoms. If amenable, we can follow a trauma focused approach where we explore the connections between body, mind and emotions.
