Great to meet you!

My name is Melissa Cary and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the state of NY. I specialize in trauma, anxiety, stress management and enhancing self esteem. I focus on adolescents and adults who have a desire to participate in therapy.

My approach to therapy

I believe that therapy is a partnership between the client and therapist. In order to have meaningful change, we must work together to identify goals and expectations of treatment. Although I draw from many modalities, I use primarily a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy approach in order to help clients understand what is happening, and how to create change.

What you can expect from me

I believe in creating a space where clients feel welcome, seen and heard. Our first session will primarily be used to learn what brings you into treatment and start to set goals. After our sessions, you can expect to have more clarity, perspective, and identify coping skills unique to you. Over time, you will be equipped with ways to incorporate what we have discussed into daily life, and practice the skills you have learned.
