Great to meet you!

I’m Melissa, a licensed therapist in Louisiana who helps teens and adults make sense of the past, ground themselves in the present, and discover hope for the future.

I obtained my M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from The University of the Cumberlands in 2018 and have worked in various settings, including school-based and community-based counseling, and private practice.

My work focuses mainly around relationship and families issues, trauma/stress, and adoption-related concerns.

A bit about my approach to therapy

As your therapist, I’ll be your champion & your advocate. I’ll also challenge you to be your best self. I will never shy away from sharing my own experiences or mistakes if you can benefit from them, and, above all, I am willing to get into, and sit in, the “uncomfortable” with you.

Counseling is about learning to be a human in relationship with others. With me, you’ll find a safe, non-judgmental space to practice that.

What you can expect from our first session

My goal is that you leave every session with me feeling that your time was productive and well spent. This will look different every week — therapy doesn’t have to be a rigid step-by-step process — from simply processing the events of the past week to diving more deeply in past experiences or using exercises to cultivate a new skill to use in your day-to-day life.
