Great to meet you!

I am a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with more than two decades of experience in pediatric bedside nursing, along with many years of coaching high school athletes. These experiences have given me a unique understanding of children, adolescents, and families, as well as the many factors that can influence mental health during important developmental stages.

My background has taught me that mental health is about more than a diagnosis or medication. Sleep, nutrition, movement, relationships, school, family dynamics, stress, and daily routines can all affect how someone feels and functions. I have a particular interest in working with adolescents and young adults and helping patients and families better understand their symptoms, treatment options, and overall mental wellness.

My approach to therapy

My approach is collaborative, practical, and focused on the whole person. I believe patients should feel heard and actively involved in decisions about their care. Rather than focusing solely on symptoms, I look at the broader picture, including sleep, physical activity, nutrition, relationships, daily routines, stressors, and other factors that may be affecting mental health.

When medication is appropriate, I believe it should be part of a thoughtful and individualized treatment plan rather than the entire treatment plan. My goal is to work with patients and families to develop realistic strategies that can be incorporated into everyday life and support long-term emotional and physical wellness.

My experience working with young people both in healthcare and through athletics has also shaped my communication style. I strive to create an environment that is supportive, straightforward, and comfortable, particularly for adolescents who may initially feel hesitant about mental health treatment

What you can expect from me

The first session is an opportunity for me to understand you as a whole person rather than simply reviewing a list of symptoms. We will discuss what brought you to care, your current concerns, medical and mental health history, medications, sleep, daily routines, relationships, school or work, stressors, and the goals you would like to achieve through treatment.

I also want patients and families to feel comfortable asking questions and discussing concerns about diagnoses, medications, or treatment options. Together, we will begin developing an individualized treatment plan that feels realistic and manageable.

My goal is for you to leave the first appointment feeling heard, better informed about what may be contributing to your symptoms, and clear about the next steps in your care.
