Great to meet you!

Hello! My name is Melissa and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I specialize in treating trauma, through the use of EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing Therapy) and inner child work. I have been a Licensed Therapist since 2017 and providing EMDR services since 2019. I wholeheartedly believe that for therapy to be effective, the client – therapist relationship must be built on trust and understanding. In order to achieve this, I provide a warm and nurturing environment allowing the client to feel safe in the therapy room. When you feel ready we will begin moving toward healing the trauma without becoming overwhelmed by the past. The unhealthy choices we make, toxic relationships we engage in and damaging cycles we participate in as adults are often the result of untreated trauma. Due to this, my work focuses on healing the adult-self, through healing our inner-child. Together, we will identify the unmet needs from your childhood and learn to reparent your inner child. We will walk through the process of healing together, addressing needs and traumas as they present themselves. Allowing you to build emotional resilience, heal the past and create the life you desire. I look forward to getting to know you and learning how I can be of help to you and your inner child.

My approach to therapy

In additional to trauma informed care (EMDR), my theoretical approaches include person-centered, existential therapy, solution-focused, CBT, and inner-child work. My approach is tailored to the client and their unique goals for therapy. My work focuses on healing; for our adult-self and our inner-child. In order to heal we must feel safe. My focus is to create safety by provide a warm and nurturing environment. Together, we will walk through the process of healing and growth. Allowing you to build emotional resilience and create the life you desire.

What you can expect from me

Our first session will include a review of policies, procedures, limits to confidentiality, and guidelines for our therapeutic relationship. We will discuss your expectations for our time together in therapy. We will then focus on gathering your history, your personal goals for therapy and begin creating our combined therapeutic goals for therapy.
