Great to meet you!

I'm Melissa Monteiro, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 14 years of experience helping adults work through anxiety, depression, family violence, and men's mental health challenges. I hold a Master of Science in Social Work from the University of Texas at Arlington and have worked at child protective services, hospital behavioral health, domestic violence intervention, and community-based care. I've spent years working directly with individuals and families affected by violence — including clinical supervision of the Batterer's Intervention Prevention Program (BIPP) — and I bring that same depth to every client I see. I offer telehealth sessions throughout Texas, making support accessible wherever you are.

My approach to therapy

My approach is trauma-informed and grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), which means we'll work together to understand how your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors connect — and where to start shifting what isn't working. I believe therapy should be honest and practical, not just a space to vent, so you'll leave sessions with real tools and a clearer picture of what's driving your experience. For men especially, I create a space where you can speak directly without feeling judged or pushed to open up before you're ready. Whether you're dealing with ongoing anxiety, a depression that's hard to shake, or the weight of family violence, I'll meet you where you are.

What you can expect from me

Our first session is about getting to know each other — I'll ask what's brought you in, what you've been experiencing, and what you're hoping to get out of therapy. There's no pressure to have everything figured out; you just have to show up. By the end, we'll have a shared sense of your goals and what working together might look like. If you're navigating a crisis or safety concern, we'll address that first — that's always the priority.
