Great to meet you!

Welcome. I'm Dr. Melissa Porter (she/her), a licensed clinical psychologist with more than 20 years of experience helping individuals navigate life's most challenging moments. My approach is collaborative, practical, and evidence-based. I believe therapy should be a place where you feel heard, understood, and equipped with tools that create meaningful change—not just a place to talk.

I work with adults experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, relationship concerns, stress, burnout, and grief. I have held a board certification as a Transgender Care Therapist. I also have extensive experience supporting healthcare professionals, college students, and individuals facing high-pressure environments. Whether you're navigating a divorce, struggling with difficult relationships, rebuilding your confidence, or feeling stuck, we'll work together to better understand what's keeping you there and develop practical strategies to move forward.

My clinical approach integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), trauma-informed care, EMDR principles, and other evidence-based interventions tailored to your unique needs and goals.

My approach to therapy

Therapy is not one-size-fits-all. My goal is to create a supportive, nonjudgmental space where we can work together to increase insight, build resilience, strengthen relationships, and help you create a life that aligns with your values.

What you can expect from me

Our first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another. I'll spend time learning about what brings you to therapy, what challenges you're experiencing, and what you hope will be different as a result of our work together. I'll also ask questions about your history to better understand the bigger picture.

We'll discuss my approach to therapy, identify your goals, and determine how I can best support you. Therapy is a collaborative process, so we'll work together to develop a plan that fits your needs, strengths, and preferences. My goal is for you to leave our first session feeling heard, with a clearer understanding of where we'll focus and what our work together may look like moving forward.
