Great to meet you!

Hi, My name is Melissa (she/her/hers). I graduated from the University of Southern Maine with my MSW. My practice interest and specialities surround various forms of couples work, sex therapy, codependency, ADHD, women's issues, as well as anxiety and depression.

A bit about my approach to therapy

I am a humanistic therapist, which means that my main goal is to create a therapeutic environment that is safe, supportive, and free of potential judgment. I pull from both western and holistic approaches in order to create the most individualized experience I can. Some of the modalities I commonly use are cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness, somatic work, solution focused brief therapy, and sex therapy.

What you can expect from our first session

I strongly believe that change comes from one's willingness to do the things that make them slightly uncomfortable. As an example; this may look like learning to set healthier boundaries for yourself and or others, enhancing communication skills, learning how to prioritize your self-care, to letting go of things out of your control. Regardless of the barrier you're facing you will walk away each session with practical skills, strategies, and tools that will aid you in moving in the direction you want to go in.
