Great to meet you!

Hi, I’m Melyssa a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a Master of Social Work from Rutgers University. I specialize in working with children, teens, and young adults who are navigating challenges such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, relationship concerns, and behavior issues. My goal is to provide a supportive space where clients and families feel understood, encouraged, and empowered.

My approach to therapy

My approach is collaborative and tailored to each individual. I draw from evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) techniques, and a strength-based perspective. Together, we focus on building coping skills, improving emotional regulation, and highlighting personal strengths to create meaningful and lasting change.

Whether it’s helping a child manage big emotions, supporting a teen through academic and social pressures, or guiding a young adult through life transitions, I work to provide practical tools for growth and resilience. I want therapy to feel approachable and encouraging a safe place to talk openly, explore challenges, and take steps toward a more balanced and fulfilling life.

What you can expect from me

Our first session is focused on getting to know you and understanding what brings you to therapy. I’ll ask questions about your current concerns, background, and goals, but there’s no pressure to share more than you feel comfortable with right away. This time is about building trust and creating a safe space where you can feel heard and supported.

For children and teens, I also like to involve parents or caregivers in the process so we can work together as a team. We’ll discuss what’s been most challenging, what’s been working, and what changes you’d like to see.

By the end of the session, we’ll start outlining a plan together — whether that means building coping strategies, improving emotional regulation, or working toward long-term goals. My aim is for you to leave the first session feeling understood and with a clear sense of what our work together will look like.
