Our first session is focused on getting to know you and understanding what brings you to therapy. I’ll ask questions about your current concerns, background, and goals, but there’s no pressure to share more than you feel comfortable with right away. This time is about building trust and creating a safe space where you can feel heard and supported.
For children and teens, I also like to involve parents or caregivers in the process so we can work together as a team. We’ll discuss what’s been most challenging, what’s been working, and what changes you’d like to see.
By the end of the session, we’ll start outlining a plan together — whether that means building coping strategies, improving emotional regulation, or working toward long-term goals. My aim is for you to leave the first session feeling understood and with a clear sense of what our work together will look like.
