Great to meet you!

Hello! My name is Mercedes, I am a first-generation Latina Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT). Hablo Ingles y Español.

I have worked with children for over 15 years and in the mental health field for the past 5 years, supporting children, teens, adults, and foster youth through a variety of emotional, relational, and life challenges. Throughout my career, I have provided individual and family therapy in community mental health settings, which has provided me the opportunity to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds and experiences.

I currently work primarily with adults navigating anxiety, depression, burnout, life transitions, and relationship challenges.

My approach to therapy

My approach is collaborative, strengths-based, and grounded in an attachment-based lens. Therapy can provide a space to slow down, reflect on your experiences, and better understand patterns that may be impacting your relationships, emotions, and overall well-being. We explore how past relationships, family dynamics, and life experiences may influence the way you connect with yourself and others today. We will also explore coping strategies to help you navigate emotions, challenge unhelpful thought patterns, strengthen communication, and create healthier boundaries and relationships.

What you can expect from me

The first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another and begin building a better understanding of what brings you to therapy. We will spend time discussing your current concerns, relevant life experiences, relationships, and any goals you may have for therapy. I may ask questions about different areas of your life to help gain a fuller picture of your experiences and identify what may be contributing to the challenges you're facing.

Some clients arrive with a clear idea of what they want to talk about, while others are unsure where to begin. Both are completely okay. We can start wherever feels most comfortable for you and use the session to begin making sense of what has been weighing on you and what you hope will be different moving forward!
