Great to meet you!

Mercedes Whitworth, PMHNP-BC Board-Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner

With over 32 years of nursing experience, I am a dedicated and compassionate Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner committed to providing high-quality, patient-centered care.

Originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, my career began in Pennsylvania at the oldest African American long-term care facility, and my passion for mental health has continued to grow throughout my 3 decades of practice. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Pittsburgh and hold a Master of Science in Nursing from Chamberlain University in Chicago, Illinois. I am currently pursuing my Doctorate in Nursing Practice.

Outside of my professional life, I enjoy spending time with my husband, six children, and eight grandchildren.

I am currently accepting new patients and look forward to providing compassionate, evidence-based care tailored to your mental health needs.

My approach to therapy

My approach to care is centered on empowerment, compassion, and individualized treatment. I believe that every person deserves access to high-quality care regardless of their background or circumstances. In our sessions, I provide a supportive and judgement free space where you can openly express yourself and work towards your goals.

I combine evidence-based practices with a person centered approach, tailoring treatment to meet your unique needs. My focus is on equipping you with the tools and confidence to take control of your life, make informed decisions, and build resilience. Through collaberation, understanding, and compassionate care, I strive to help clients achieve lasting mental well-being.

What you can expect from me

Clients can expect a supportive and empowering experience in our sessions. My goal is to help you take control of your life by providing the tools and guidance needs to navigate challenges with confidence. I offer a compassionate and understanding space, where you can feel heard, valued, and respected-without fear of judgement. Together we will work toward meaningful progress, focusing on your strengths, and creating a path towards improved mental well-being.
