Great to meet you!

I'm dedicated to helping you find joy in life again, no matter how dark things have become.

I'm Merissa, and I'm looking forward to working together. Professionally, I earned my Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in 2019. I've worked with school-aged children, neurodivergent people with ADHD/autism/learning difficulties, people with substance use disorders, survivors of emotional and sexual abuse, people with serious mental illness, and members of the queer community and those in ethically non-monogamous relationships. I also worked at the state level advocating for survivors of labor and sexual exploitation. Personally, I enjoy nature, Highland cows, community theater, and quality time with loved ones.

Thank you for trusting me with your journey. Let's work together to help you build the life you want!

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is relational. I want to offer you a space to be your full, authentic self. Building trust takes time, so we won't dive into the deepest end of things right away. I am dedicated to always centering the people, places, and experiences that bring you safety and joy. While therapy isn't always easy, it shouldn't leave you stuck in pain. Let's find your joy together.

What you can expect from me

An initial therapy session will review your rights as a client and what you can expect from me as a therapist. My primary goal in an intake session is to help you answer the questions 1)What's bothering you in about your life right now and 2) What are some things that bring you true joy? If you don't have an answer, that's okay! We know where to begin.
