Great to meet you!

Hi there! I’m so glad you found your way here, I’m Merlyn. What drew me to therapy wasn’t theory, but the quiet moment when someone feels safe enough to exhale, speak their truth, and realize they were never too much to be understood. Healing isn’t about fixing yourself; it’s about understanding the parts of you that had to fight, protect, and survive.

I also provide Christian-integrated counseling for women who share this faith, helping you explore your struggles through both science and Scripture, where psychology and God’s truth work together beautifully. This blend honors both emotional and spiritual healing, creating space for restoration that feels whole and grounded.

I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in Florida and the founder of Merlyn Asencio Psychotherapy & Wellness, LLC. I specialize in working with high-functioning women, the ones who appear composed, capable, and self-aware, yet feel anxious, disconnected, or exhausted on the inside. As the creator of The Merlyn MethodTM, I combine attachment-based EMDR, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and narrative therapy to help you reconnect with your voice, rebuild confidence, and experience peace that lasts beyond the session.

My approach to therapy

I believe therapy should feel like a safe exhale, a place where you don’t have to perform, overthink, or have it all figured out. My approach blends clinical depth with genuine connection, helping you understand the story behind your emotions and patterns through an attachment and parts-work lens.

I use The Merlyn Method, an integrative approach that combines attachment-based EMDR, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and narrative therapy. Together, we’ll explore your experiences with curiosity and compassion, so you can heal the parts of you that had to protect, perform, or stay small. My goal is to help you move from survival mode to a steadier, more confident sense of self, one that feels aligned, peaceful, and whole.

What you can expect from me

Our first session is all about getting to know you, not just what’s been hard lately, but what’s shaped you. We’ll explore what’s bringing you in, talk through your goals, and begin mapping out the patterns, stories, and experiences that have influenced how you move through life.

You can expect a calm, welcoming space where you set the pace. I’ll guide our conversation with curiosity and compassion, helping you feel grounded and safe as we start connecting the dots together. By the end of our first session, you’ll have a clearer sense of direction, and hopefully, a bit of relief knowing you don’t have to carry it all alone. Cant wait to chat!
