Great to meet you!

Hi, I’m Merrick Tsai, a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner dedicated to helping individuals better understand and manage their mental health. I provide compassionate, evidence-based psychiatric care with an emphasis on creating a space where you feel heard, respected, and comfortable discussing your concerns.

I work with individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, ADHD, mood disorders, sleep difficulties, and other mental health concerns. My practice includes comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and medication management, with treatment tailored to each person’s symptoms, experiences, needs, and goals.

I believe mental health care should be collaborative rather than one-sided. I take time to listen, explain treatment options, answer questions, and help you understand the reasoning behind your care plan. My goal is to help you feel empowered and supported as we work toward improved mental health, daily functioning, and overall well-being.

My approach to therapy

My approach to care is collaborative, compassionate, and individualized. I believe effective mental health treatment begins with listening and understanding the whole person—not simply focusing on a diagnosis or a list of symptoms. I work closely with each patient to understand their concerns, experiences, lifestyle, and goals so we can develop a treatment plan together.

I use evidence-based psychiatric care and thoughtful medication management while emphasizing education and shared decision-making. I want my patients to understand their treatment options, including potential benefits and risks, and feel comfortable asking questions and participating in decisions about their care.

I work with individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, ADHD, mood disorders, sleep difficulties, and other mental health concerns. My goal is to create a supportive, nonjudgmental environment where patients feel heard and respected while we work toward meaningful and sustainable improvements in their mental health and overall well-being.

What you can expect from me

During our first session, my priority is to create a comfortable, welcoming, and nonjudgmental space where you can feel heard and understood. We’ll take time to discuss what brought you to care, your current symptoms and concerns, relevant medical and mental health history, medications, lifestyle factors, and what you hope to achieve through treatment.

Together, we’ll begin identifying your treatment goals and discuss options that may be appropriate for you. When medication is part of the plan, I’ll explain the recommendations, expected benefits, potential side effects, and alternatives so you can make informed decisions about your care.

My goal is for you to leave your first appointment with a better understanding of what you may be experiencing, a clear direction for treatment, and confidence that we are working together toward meaningful and realistic goals.
