Great to meet you!

Hello, my name is Micaela Pericone-Kapp, a Doctor of Nursing Practice specializing as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. I'm passionate about providing advanced care for individuals with ADHD, OCD, PTSD and trauma, personality disorders, depression, anxiety, panic disorders, mood disorders, and bipolar conditions. My doctoral-level training enables me to provide sophisticated, evidence-based treatment for complex mental health challenges. I'm LGBTQ+ identified and provide affirming care for diverse communities.

I chose to specialize in these areas because I understand how these conditions can profoundly impact every aspect of your life, often in ways that feel overwhelming or isolating. Whether you're struggling with ADHD symptoms that affect your work performance, OCD rituals that consume your time and energy, trauma responses that interfere with relationships, or personality patterns that create ongoing difficulties, I bring the advanced knowledge needed to provide effective, compassionate care.

My treatment philosophy centers on understanding you as a complete person, not just a collection of symptoms. I recognize that mental health conditions don't exist in isolation—they interact with your life experiences, relationships, cultural background, and personal goals in unique ways. My approach combines cutting-edge psychiatric interventions with deep respect for your individual journey and values.

You can expect thorough assessment, personalized treatment planning, and ongoing support throughout our work together. You deserve care that truly sees you.

My approach to therapy

One unwavering principle shapes everything I do: mental health treatment should be accessible, understandable, and carefully tailored to your unique needs and circumstances. Navigating mental health care can feel deeply overwhelming, which is why I am committed to keeping our work clear, compassionate, and focused on the goals that matter most to you. I am here to answer your questions, address your concerns, and ensure you feel fully informed and supported at every stage.

With medication management, I begin by meeting you exactly where you are. I take genuine, unhurried time to understand your current symptoms, psychiatric history, and previous treatment experiences—what has helped, what has not, and what you hope to achieve. My approach is grounded in evidence-based practice while recognizing that every person responds differently. I encourage honest communication about progress, concerns, and side effects, because your candid feedback is essential to refining your care. You are the expert on your own experiences; my role is to help you understand them more deeply.

Beyond medication, I am deeply invested in your overall wellbeing. Meaningful healing extends well beyond our appointments and touches nearly every aspect of daily life. Together, we will explore daily habits, stress management, relationships, and other factors that shape your emotional health. I also value close collaboration with other professionals and care teams when it serves your wellbeing.

My ultimate goal is to help you achieve meaningful symptom relief and a genuinely improved quality of life. You deserve exceptional care delivered with warmth, empathy, and respect. This is a true partnership built on honesty and trust, and your perspective will always be valued as an essential part of our work.

What you can expect from me

Your very first visit lays a warm, collaborative foundation centered on your mental health and your overall wellbeing. You'll be met with sincere curiosity, unhurried attention, and a deep commitment to genuinely hearing your story, because understanding you as a whole, individual person will always come first for me.

Together we'll talk through what's weighing on you, the concerns you're carrying, how they're affecting your life, and what you most hope to achieve. I'll evaluate the mental health challenges you're facing, including signs of depression such as a persistent low mood, anxiety symptoms like ongoing worry, disrupted sleep, shifts in appetite, reduced energy, difficulty concentrating, fading motivation, and any distressing or intrusive thoughts.

I'll ask when the difficulties first surfaced, what tends to provoke or worsen them, and which patterns you've begun to notice yourself. Your psychiatric history matters a great deal here. I'll review any prior diagnoses, the treatments you've already tried, and the medications you've taken, noting their effectiveness and exactly how you responded to each.

We'll then turn to your medical background, including existing conditions, active prescriptions, and substance use, along with the emotional and social dimensions of your life: past trauma, losses, ongoing pressures, your professional environment, your relationships, and your support systems. Once we've formed this fuller picture together, we'll determine whether medication could support your recovery, with careful consideration of your symptoms, your history, and your goals.

If medication is a good fit, I'll walk you through every available option, so that you feel truly empowered and fully confident in each decision we reach together, and never once rushed or pressured into anything. You'll leave knowing you have a steady, dependable partner who is committed to your wellbeing and your growth at every step of the way.
