Great to meet you!

Hi! I'm Micaela Pericone-Kapp, a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner who specializes in conditions that often feel impossible to explain to others—ADHD, OCD, PTSD and trauma, personality disorders, depression, anxiety, panic disorders, mood disturbances, and bipolar conditions.

I chose to focus on these areas because I understand something crucial: these aren't just clinical diagnoses. They're the panic attack in the grocery store, the ADHD paralysis when facing a deadline, the OCD thoughts that won't quiet, the trauma that makes intimacy terrifying, the depression that makes getting out of bed feel like climbing a mountain. These conditions change how you experience the world, and you deserve care from someone who recognizes that complexity.

My doctoral training equips me with advanced knowledge for treating challenging mental health conditions, but what really matters is how I use that expertise. I'm here to listen deeply, think critically about what's happening for you specifically, and create treatment plans that actually work in your real life—not just in theory.

You can expect me to be thorough, thoughtful, and genuinely present. I ask questions because I want to understand, not interrogate. I explain things clearly because you deserve to understand your own treatment. I celebrate progress because I know how hard you're working, even when others might not see it.

Most importantly, our work together will be judgment-free. Whatever you're experiencing, whatever you've tried before, whatever fears or hopes you're bringing—there's space for all of it here.

My approach to therapy

My care philosophy rests on a core conviction: mental health treatment should be approachable, clearly understood, and molded around your specific needs. I recognize that navigating the mental health system can feel daunting, so I am devoted to keeping our work together transparent, caring, and anchored by well-defined goals. I am here to field your questions, respond to your concerns, and make certain you understand every component of your treatment plan.

In medication management, my approach begins by meeting you precisely where you stand. I dedicate time to learning your present symptoms, psychiatric background, earlier treatment efforts—what delivered results and what missed the mark—and your vision for care. I am grounded in evidence-based practices, drawing on medications supported by robust research, while acknowledging that every individual responds in their own way. I am prepared to be patient and versatile as we uncover what serves you best.

Your feedback is indispensable—I want to know what is progressing, which side effects are bothersome, and what questions emerge, because those observations help me continually refine your care. Beyond medication, I take genuine interest in your broader wellness. I will inquire about your everyday routines, approaches to managing stress, relationships, and additional forces that play into mental health.

I remain reachable between appointments and work in tandem with your other providers when doing so strengthens your care to ensure seamless, well-coordinated treatment. My primary objective is guiding you toward symptom relief and a heightened quality of life, opening the door to richer engagement with the things that matter most to you.

You deserve exceptional care marked by compassion and steadfast support. This is a partnership built on trust, and your perspective will always hold meaning. I am honored to be the one you have chosen to trust with your care.

What you can expect from me

Your first appointment will be marked by compassion, clinical skill, and genuine concern for your wellbeing. I appreciate that discussing mental health struggles calls for vulnerability and trust, and I respect that from the very outset.

We will begin by exploring what has been taking place in your life and with your mental health. I will ask about your symptoms, how intense and frequent they are, and how they are affecting your capacity to function each day. We will trace your mental health history—when you initially recognized something was off, earlier diagnoses, treatments you have sought, and the outcomes you experienced. I will inquire about medications you have used, including what proved helpful, what did not deliver, and any side effects you dealt with. We will also review your medical background, family psychiatric history, current prescriptions, and lifestyle habits such as sleep, nutrition, physical movement, and stress management. Every detail you offer helps me build a sharper, more thorough picture of how to best serve you.

I will walk you through different medication classes, how they work to ease symptoms, what to expect concerning benefits and timing, and which potential side effects could surface. We will discuss your medication concerns transparently—whether they center on side effects, dependency risks, or overall effectiveness—and I will answer with both research-backed knowledge and sincere warmth. I want you feeling fully educated and self-assured, never doubtful or pressured regarding any part of your care.

I remain reachable between appointments, and we will set up consistent follow-ups to guarantee uninterrupted support. Recovery is a journey, and I am entirely committed to steering you toward wellness and a more promising future. Every person who comes through my door holds the capacity for healing, and together we will forge a path forward rooted in hope, built on expertise, and led by wholehearted care.
