Great to meet you!

Hi! I'm Michael Banwart. I am a licensed clinical psychologist, and it's my goal to provide a compassionate environment to grow and heal. I specialize in treating anxiety, trauma, interpersonal problems, and emotional difficulties.

My approach to therapy

I personalize therapy to each client, but I always focus on listening and understanding first. I integrate tools from a few different therapy approaches. I especially lean into my training in Narrative Exposure Therapy (for treating anxiety and trauma) , and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (for mindfulness, self-compassion, and getting un-stuck).

I also provide therapeutic roleplaying groups, using games like Dungeons & Dragons to work on relationship skills, problem solving, and navigating social situations.

What you can expect from me

Mostly, I'd like to hear from you, and to understand what brings you to therapy. I'll share a little about policies at the beginning, and the rest of the time will be for us to connect. You are welcome to ask me any questions you have. If you'd like to continue working together, we'll save a few minutes at the end for scheduling.
