Great to meet you!

I'm a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who spent a number of years working as a therapist in Georgia before returning to Upstate NY. I work with individuals, couples and families. I help people navigate their stories and better know the strengths and the resources they possess to cope with difficult situations. Previously I worked for more than 20 years as a journalist. I'm a husband, father, guitarist and runner.

My approach to therapy

I use an approach called Acceptance and Commitment Therapy or ACT, a proven method of dealing with mental health issues. I apply this approach in a way that fits your needs. I combine this with schema-based assessment and a systemic foundation.

What you can expect from me

You will look at the patterns of behavior that were informed by how you learned to cope with difficult emotions and thoughts. You will use mindful awareness to accept the negative thoughts, feelings, and beliefs and commit to engaging in what matters to you for a more fulfilling life. There will be some exercises and an understanding of concepts that can clarify the approach.
