Great to meet you!

Mindfully focused to connect your presenting concern to your system, my style is to meet you where you are whether you need me to explain what we’re doing, or simply direct you. My approach is practical, direct, and occasionally humorous — I believe real progress happens when you feel are both, supported and challenged, not just listened to.

Over 30 years I've worked with individuals, couples, and families through some of the hardest seasons of life: chronic illness, painful grief, relationship breakdowns, severe ADHD, life hindering eating disorders, destructive anger, and major life transitions.

I singly raised my three children, and came to realize clinical training doesn’t compare to life experience... theory helps it’s just not enough to capture the big picture.

I've also spent significant time working with military families and first responders, rich in life experience. They seem to prefer my steady, no-nonsense mindset at times.

Also, a well trained 15 year-old Australian Shepherd occasionally joins sessions — let me know if you'd prefer this.

My approach to therapy

Blend a client and solution focused mindset within family systems perspectives, and chores in techniques of CBT, REBT, and family systems interventions, as appropriate to what actually helps each client.

Less interested in managing symptoms, we will seek to understand the patterns underneath and causing the distress or presenting concern.

Expect direct questions, honest feedback, and practical tools you can use between sessions. I often encourage clients to keep a simple journal to track emotional triggers and recurring themes, because awareness is where real change begins.

I'll offer support, challenge, and hold clients accountable to their degree of readiness for change.

What you can expect from me

Come ready to talk — our first session is a real conversation, not an intake form. We'll dig into your concerns, your goals, and the patterns that may be keeping you stuck. You're welcome to take notes, ask questions, or record the session if that's helpful. You might leave with more questions than answers — that's often where meaningful growth starts. My goal is for you to walk out with a clearer sense of direction, some concrete next steps, and the sense that this might actually go somewhere.
