Great to meet you!

Hi, I’m Michael, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with more than 27 years of experience helping individuals, couples, and families navigate both difficult and meaningful life transitions.

Whether you’re struggling with stress, relationship challenges, trauma, grief, anxiety, or feeling stuck, I offer a compassionate, direct, practical, and occasionally humorous approach to therapy. My work is grounded in Systems Theory, Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT), and Cognitive-Behavioral strategies, helping clients better understand themselves, their relationships, and the patterns that shape their lives.

I have extensive experience working with military families, first responders, and individuals facing crisis situations. My goal is to help you develop greater emotional resilience, stronger relationships, and practical tools that continue serving you long after therapy ends.

I strive to create a judgment-free environment where honest conversations can lead to meaningful change. I offer evening and weekend appointments and can occasionally accommodate other scheduling needs. As a single father, I raised three children over a 15-year period, an experience that deeply informs my understanding of life’s challenges and responsibilities. My Australian Shepherd service dog may occasionally be present during sessions unless you prefer otherwise.

My approach to therapy

Change begins the moment we first connect. From our initial conversation forward, therapy is an active process focused on insight, growth, and practical application.

I tailor my style to your needs, offering support, encouragement, challenge, or accountability as appropriate. Together, we’ll examine the ways your thoughts, beliefs, values, priorities, and relationship patterns influence your emotions and behavior. Rather than simply managing symptoms, we’ll work to identify the underlying patterns that may be keeping you stuck.

I often encourage clients to keep a simple journal to increase awareness of recurring themes, emotional triggers, and long-standing beliefs. Greater awareness creates greater choice—and greater choice creates lasting change.

My role is to help you understand yourself more clearly, strengthen your ability to respond effectively to life’s challenges, and build a life that aligns with your values and goals.

What you can expect from me

Some of our most valuable work may begin in our very first meeting. You’re welcome to take notes, ask questions, or record the session if you’d like to revisit important concepts later.

Our first session focuses on understanding your concerns, goals, strengths, and patterns. We’ll begin identifying practical strategies and opportunities for change.

Change can feel unfamiliar and sometimes uncomfortable. You may leave with more questions, insight, or perspective than answers—and that’s often where meaningful growth begins. While we’ll only scratch the surface at first, my goal is for you to leave with greater hope, clarity, and direction.
