Great to meet you!

Hello. I am Michael Ham a Licensed Professional Counselor in the Houston area working with children and adults for the past 8 years. Most of my experience has been treating people living with childhood or current trauma; grief/bereavement over loss of loved one; daily anxiety with/without panic attacks; depression; and people going through life transitions. I have specialized trainings in EMDR, Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), Anxiety Disorders, and I am trained in Nature Informed Therapy.

My approach to therapy

The kind of trust necessary to be vulnerable in therapy does not develop immediately. I believe in the value of creating a strong relationship where clients will not feel judged and can talk about their issues without shame. With a good therapeutic relationship I can challenge the client's thinking and help them identify the unhelpful thoughts and behaviors which slow down their progress toward personal goals. I try to be the curious detective, a wise sage, and the cheerleader all at once for my clients!

What you can expect from me

I live to tell clients that we may burden ourselves with weighty topics, but you should feel lighter when you leave a session. My goal is for you to have some new insights or a plan of action to try out in your life. My hope is you gain trust in the efficacy of therapy work and you end a session thinking, "I'm glad I attended today!"
