Great to meet you!

Hi, I’m Michael Lenok, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) with a Master’s in Addiction Counseling: Integrated Recovery for Co-Occurring Disorders from Hazelden Betty Ford. I specialize in helping individuals navigate recovery from substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders, drawing from both clinical training and my own lived experience in long-term recovery from opiate addiction and co-occurring mental health disorders. I specialize with addiction and substance use disorder but I have a diverse range of experience treating many different clients with various other mental health problems. My approach is rooted in honesty, empowerment, and individuality—I believe there’s no one-size-fits-all path to recovery. Whether you’re feeling stuck, newly sober, or rebuilding after relapse, I’m here to help you create a life that actually works for you.

My approach to therapy

In our sessions, you can expect a collaborative, down-to-earth space where we focus less on what's "wrong" with you—and more on building a life that feels meaningful, grounded, and true to who you are. I believe that the best way to combat negative symptoms is through "aggressive positive action" and a focus on the solution rather than "defensive negative action" and a fixation on the problem. My approach is action-oriented and purpose-driven: we’ll explore what truly matters to you and take steps toward it, rather than just trying to avoid pain or symptoms. While I draw from existential therapy, reality therapy, CBT, and other evidence-based practices, my style is flexible and always tailored to the individual in front of me. Just as I do not expect my clients to neatly fit into one box, I do not like to do so with my therapeutic approach either.

What you can expect from me

Our first session is all about you—your story, your voice, your goals. I want to hear where you’ve been, where you’re at, and where you want to go. From there, we build something real together. My goal is to create an honest, laid-back space where you feel safe to say the hard stuff, question old narratives, and explore who you truly are underneath it all. Therapy with me isn’t about checking boxes—it’s about finding your rhythm, your purpose, and taking action that actually moves the needle in your life. I especially enjoy working with people in recovery or anyone who feels stuck, lost, or ready to break out of old patterns and build something meaningful.
