Great to meet you!

Hello! I am Michael Mazucci-Mambala, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Florida. I completed a Master of Social Work degree from Saint Leo University in 2016. Since I began my career as a therapist, I have worked in various settings, populations and specialties. I started my career treating substance use disorders in residential, outpatient and methadone clinics. I continue to treat substance use disorders as well as trauma and mood disorders like depression and anxiety. I have worked with people from all walks of life including LGBTQIA+, professionals, first responders and military/veterans. I was an advocate at a domestic violence shelter and through my experience with people who have had those experiences, I do my level best to help people feel safe in the environment that we create. I am happy to answer any further questions that you may have. I look forward to speaking with you soon!

My approach to therapy

I work hard to ensure that you feel safe and work hard to meet your needs. I listen thoughtfully and will appropriately challenge thoughts that may be distorted. With that said, I approach each person with the utmost respect and will ask questions to make sure that you are okay and that we are going to a place where you want to go. When treating trauma, I follow a specific process to ensure that you leave the session without asking yourself "what just happened" or "that was awful". I will work to ensure that you are able to and stay relaxed and regulated before we process any traumatic event. I do my best to make sure that you leave a session with something practical and feel like you accomplished something. There is always time to process things in your life if that is what you need as well, so don't feel like you can't talk about something that is on your mind.

What you can expect from me

In our first session, I will introduce myself and then we will spend some time where you can ask me any questions about me, how I approach therapy, your concerns and preferences, or anything else that is on your mind. After that, we will review a questionnaire that I will ask you to fill out before that session and I will ask follow up questions. Once that is done, I will ensure that you feel ready to get into what brings you to therapy the next time, and if there is an urgent need, we will ensure that those urgent needs are addressed.
