Great to meet you!

I'm Michael, a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner passionate about providing integrated care for complex mental health challenges, including ADHD, autism spectrum disorders, OCD, personality disorders, PTSD and trauma, schizophrenia and psychosis disorders, substance use disorders, depression, anxiety, panic disorders, mood disorders, and bipolar conditions. My practice recognizes that these conditions are deeply interconnected in ways requiring specialized understanding.

I chose to specialize across this broad spectrum because I understand how neurodivergence intersects with trauma responses, how personality patterns emerge as adaptive mechanisms, how substance use can complicate other presentations, and how psychotic symptoms may develop in vulnerable individuals. Whether you're in recovery while managing other conditions, discovering neurodivergence later in life, or dealing with multiple diagnoses that influence each other, I bring the expertise needed to see the complete picture.

My approach emphasizes both evidence-based treatments and the healing power of being truly understood by someone who isn't intimidated by complexity. I recognize that seeking help for multiple or stigmatized conditions takes tremendous courage, especially after disappointing experiences with other providers who may have felt overwhelmed by your needs.

What you can expect from our collaboration is a thorough assessment, personalized treatment planning, and ongoing support as we navigate your unique mental health journey. My goal is to help you build resilience, develop effective strategies, and create the fulfilling life you deserve. You are full of possibilities. Together, we'll work at your pace, honoring your experiences while moving toward meaningful change.

My approach to therapy

Genuine connection and deep mutual respect form the core of my psychiatric philosophy. Real recovery begins when you feel truly seen, heard, and valued—not as a collection of symptoms, but as a whole person navigating real-life challenges. I bring rigorous clinical expertise and heartfelt empathy to every interaction, because meaningful care cannot truly thrive without both.

I practice patient-centered psychiatry, meaning your goals, values, and preferences guide every decision we reach together. I offer clear guidance informed by research and clinical experience, but will never steer you toward treatment that does not align with who you genuinely are. Your autonomy is not simply respected; it is essential to everything we do. I view informed consent as an ongoing conversation, not merely a signature alone.

I am experienced in psychiatric evaluation, differential diagnosis, and medication management, and remain current with the latest advances. Mental health care is both a science and an art—no two people are alike, and effective treatment demands a truly personalized approach. I take unhurried time to understand your history, circumstances, strengths, and challenges so we can craft a plan genuinely suited to your individual needs.

I view medication and non-medication approaches as equally important. When medication is appropriate, I prescribe thoughtfully, explain my reasoning clearly, and monitor your response closely. I am equally devoted to evidence-based therapy, healthy lifestyle changes, and practical skill-building for your long-term wellbeing.

I hold a deeply holistic view of mental health, honoring the profound connection between your psychological, physical, social, and spiritual wellbeing. Open dialogue about what is and is not working is always welcomed. Nothing you share will ever be minimized, dismissed, or treated as anything less than what it truly is: an essential part of understanding and supporting you.

What you can expect from me

Your first appointment establishes the groundwork for our collaborative relationship, and I approach it with genuine intention and thoughtful attention. We will begin with a thorough evaluation in which I explore your mental health concerns, symptoms, and what has been weighing on you most. I want to understand not just what you are experiencing but how it is affecting your world — your career, relationships, sleep, energy, and overall sense of well-being.

We will review your previous mental health treatments, medications you have tried, and how effectively they served you. This history is essential to building a careful, individualized treatment plan. I will ask questions, but you always decide what you share and when. If something feels too difficult to discuss right away, that is completely fine. Trust develops over time, and I will never rush that process.

We will talk about your goals and what you hope to achieve through treatment. Whether you are seeking medication management, symptom relief, or stronger coping abilities, your priorities guide the direction of our work. If medication emerges as a fitting option, I will walk you through your choices thoughtfully — how different medications function, realistic timelines for improvement, and which side effects to monitor. Informed consent and shared decision-making remain central to everything I do.

Our first meeting also provides space for setting expectations and addressing your questions. No concern is too small. I want you to leave feeling confident and comfortable with the care you are receiving, and I stay accessible between appointments as your treatment progresses.

My approach combines clinical expertise, warmth, and deep respect for your lived experience. You are not a diagnosis — you are a whole person deserving of attentive, dedicated care. That belief guides every decision I make. You will leave with a clear plan and genuine confidence in our partnership.
