Great to meet you!

I’m Michael Perkins, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with 33 years of experience helping adults navigate life’s more difficult seasons. My work focuses on anxiety, depression, grief and loss, stress, relationships, family concerns, and men’s issues. Over the years, I’ve worked with people who may feel overwhelmed, stuck, disconnected, or simply ready for something in their lives to change.

I earned my Master of Social Work from the University of Missouri, and I bring a practical, compassionate perspective to therapy. I understand that reaching out for support can be difficult, particularly when you’re accustomed to handling things on your own. My goal is to create a space where you can be honest without judgment, feel genuinely understood, and work toward meaningful change at a pace that feels comfortable for you.

My approach to therapy

My approach is open-minded, empowering, and solution-oriented. I draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, and strength-based approaches to help you better understand your thoughts, emotions, and patterns while developing practical tools for moving forward. Therapy is collaborative, and I tailor our work to your goals rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach. You can expect thoughtful questions, honest conversation, encouragement, and a focus on the strengths you already bring with you.

What you can expect from me

Your first session is an opportunity to have a real conversation and begin getting to know one another. We’ll discuss what brought you to therapy, what you’ve been experiencing, and what you would like to be different. You don’t need to have everything figured out or know exactly where to start. We’ll take the time to understand what matters most to you and create a direction for therapy that feels meaningful and manageable. My goal is for you to leave feeling heard, supported, and confident about our next steps together.
