Great to meet you!

Hi! My name is Michael Van Loon and I am a psychologist. I have been licensed since 2006 and since then, I have worked in many different settings with folks from many backgrounds. My approach to therapy is influenced by CBT, DBT, EMDR and psychodynamic therapies.

My approach to therapy

I like to meet clients and set out a path for us to take that leads to healing. I am really welcoming, warm, affirming, and sometimes humorous; but I will very clear in communicating with my clients what needs to be done to reach your goals.

What you can expect from me

If you work with me you will leave sessions with a goal plan and homework and/or resources that I will expect to be followed up on for your journey. I set treatment plans for my clients that are clear, a bit challenging, but doable. I see each session as steps we will take together to get you to the place you want to be.
