Great to meet you!

Hi, my name is Michele Berringer, I am a licensed clinical social worker and have been working in this field since 1986, I am a strong believer in the power of therapy and counseling and feel privileged to work with people of all ages as they navigate life’s challenges, transitions, and opportunities for growth. My clinical work primarily focuses on depression, anxiety, life changes, and the many emotional and psychological challenges that can accompany medical conditions. Over the years, I have come to appreciate that each person’s experience is unique, and I believe therapy should reflect that individuality.

My approach to therapy

My approach is eclectic, drawing from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness, motivational interviewing, and strength-based practices. I tend to work from a narrative perspective, allowing clients the space to explore their experiences, make sense of their stories, and discover new ways of understanding themselves and their circumstances. While I value structure, a strong therapeutic foundation, and purposeful direction, I do not believe therapy needs to be rigid or overly prescriptive. I strive to meet each person where they are, listen carefully to what is being said—and sometimes what is difficult to say—and remain curious about the experiences that have shaped them.

What you can expect from me

Ultimately, I hope clients leave our sessions feeling heard, understood, and a little more hopeful about what lies ahead. I want them to recognize their own strengths, feel more confident in their ability to navigate challenges, and leave with a greater sense of agency in their lives. For me, therapy is about creating a supportive, collaborative space where people can explore, grow, and begin to see new possibilities for themselves.
