Great to meet you!

Welcome! I am a licensed mental health counselor with 20 years of post-graduate experience who has worked with youth and adults in agency, clinic, school and private practice settings. I provide counseling for a wide range of concerns that may be causing distress or negatively impacting quality of life, as well as offering support to individuals who would like to increase clarity and confidence related to personal goals or decisions with which they desire assistance.

My approach to therapy

My style tends to be supportive and insight-oriented; I collaborate with clients to assist them with identifying and processing experiences, thoughts, and emotions that are impacting their well-being or functioning. As a generalist, I pull from various counseling theories and modalities to offer coping skills or ideas for how to move toward goals, decrease distress, and increase effectiveness in managing challenging situations or mental health symptoms. I am most often non-directive and view myself as a partner with clients- believing that each person is the best expert on themselves. I base interventions and the plan for therapy on what clients identify as valuable to them and the outcomes they are hoping to achieve.

What you can expect from me

I strive to create an emotionally safe and accepting space that is honest- but not harsh. I value a counseling relationship that is welcoming and allows a person to feel free from judgement so that they can be comfortable sharing thoughts and feelings they are grappling with. Though the counseling process can elicit strong emotions that may at times feel challenging, I work to facilitate healing and increased sense of peace and "settledness" via the therapy process. In the first session, I gather information about hopes and goals for clinical work (if you aren't sure what your specific goal is, but you know you just want relief- that's okay!); some history; and general information to help me get to know you.

If you would like to schedule a 15 minute phone call free of charge to see if my style may be a fit for your needs, please feel free to reach out to me via email. I look forward to meeting you!
