Great to meet you!

I am excited to meet you! I am Michelle Brennan, a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and I believe that effective therapy requires both deep clinical understanding and a compassionate, real-world connection. My background spans the full continuum of mental health care—from managing acute crises in intensive hospital and emergency settings to providing long-term, individualized support in outpatient private practice. Over the years, I have supported individuals navigating complex trauma, life transitions, grief, mood disorders, anxiety, and severe mental health conditions.

My practice is shaped by a holistic, trauma-informed lens that honors the mind-body connection and respects each client’s unique cultural background. Having provided crisis intervention, advocacy, and care within diverse communities, I bring a nuanced appreciation for Hispanic and Latino cultural dynamics, family structures, and systemic experiences into the therapeutic space and invite all cultures into my room. Whether we are working through acute life stressors, processing deep-seated trauma, or developing practical coping strategies, I tailor my approach to align with your personal values and goals. I strive to create an empowering, non-judgmental, and affriming environment where you feel fully heard, advocated for, and equipped to create meaningful, lasting change.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is grounded, collaborative, and deeply relational. I view our work together as a partnership where your lived experiences, bodily cues, and personal values guide the process. Rather than using a one-size-fits-all model, I draw flexibly from modalities like CBT, DBT, ACT, IFS, and psychodynamic frameworks to meet your specific needs in the moment. In our sessions—whether we are meeting in person or via telehealth—we will explore not just immediate symptoms, but the underlying attachment patterns and relational dynamics that shape how you navigate the world. I aim to create a supportive, culturally responsive environment where you feel both safe enough to process complex emotions and empowered with practical tools to build a continued meaningful, lasting life.

What you can expect from me

In our first session, you can expect a warm and grounded space where we slow down and look at the whole picture—mind, body, and life context. We’ll focus on building trust and exploring what brings you to therapy, while beginning to identify the relational and attachment patterns shaping your current experience. You can expect a collaborative balance: I bring deep compassion and authenticity, but I will also gently challenge you to look beyond surface-level symptoms and step out of old, unhelpful cycles.

Clients leave our early sessions feeling heard, emotionally regulated, and clearer about their path forward. Together, we’ll set meaningful goals and equip you with practical tools so you feel more empowered, self-aware, and rooted in your own strength.
