Great to meet you!

Hi, I’m Michelle Gorden, a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Virginia and a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC). I’m passionate about helping individuals, couples, and families heal, grow, and reconnect with the best version of themselves.

My clinical approach is grounded in evidence-based practices, and I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT). I specialize in working with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, PTSD, mood disorders, relationship challenges, life transitions, and emotional regulation difficulties.

In addition to my clinical work, my diverse professional and personal background allows me to connect with clients from many walks of life. I believe therapy should feel supportive, empowering, and collaborative — a place where you can feel truly seen, heard, and understood without judgment.

My approach to therapy

My therapy style is warm, laid-back, and authentic. I focus on creating a safe, comfortable environment where clients feel free to be themselves and explore difficult emotions at their own pace.

I believe therapy is not one-size-fits-all. Every person’s story, experiences, and needs are unique, so I take an eclectic and individualized approach to treatment.

Together, we will identify what’s working, uncover barriers that may be holding you back, and develop practical tools and strategies to help you move toward healing and growth.

Whether you are seeking support for anxiety, trauma, relationships, self-esteem, or major life changes, I strive to meet you where you are with compassion, honesty, and understanding.

What you can expect from me

Your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and begin building a strong therapeutic relationship. I work collaboratively with clients in a nonjudgmental and supportive space where you can openly discuss your concerns, goals, and challenges.

During our first session, we’ll explore what brings you to therapy, identify areas you would like to improve, and begin developing a plan tailored to your needs. My goal is to help you feel comfortable, supported, and empowered from the very beginning.

Therapy can help you navigate anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, family conflict, relationship concerns, self-exploration, and other life stressors. Most importantly, it provides a safe place to be vulnerable, gain insight, build resilience, and create meaningful change in your life.
