Dr. Morrell is passionate about working with adolescents, young adults, and women. Dr. Morrell completed her pre-doctoral residency at the Hawai’i Psychological Internship Consortium, and her post-doctoral fellowship at The Department of Health, Child and Adolescent Mental Health Division (CAMHD) on Big Island. Dr. Morrell also received training at Rush and Northwestern medical centers before working in private practice at The Center for NeuroCare and Coastal Neuropsychology.

A bit about my approach to therapy

Dr. Morrell specializes in addressing anxiety, depression, self-esteem, suicidal thoughts, self-injury, trauma, grief, stress, and difficulties related to life transitions, interpersonal relationships, parenting, and LGBTQIA+. Dr. Morrell approaches therapy through a client-centered lens while utilizing a variety of evidence-based interventions such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing.

What you can expect from our first session

Dr. Morrell uses a relational approach emphasizing collaboration, connection, and empowerment. The importance of the therapeutic relationship is emphasized. Our initial goals will include building a safe and empathic relationship where you truly feel heard and seen. Therapy is viewed as a collaborative effort that creates a safe space for people to obtain a deeper understanding of themselves, their relationship patterns, and their characteristic ways of thinking, feeling, and behaving.
