Great to meet you!

Hi, I'm Michelle Moses, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) and behavioral health and social services leader with 18+ years of progressive experience across foster family agency services, mental health and substance use treatment, and adult services. I'm currently serving Santa Barbara County and clients California-wide via telehealth. In-person sessions are limited to Santa Maria, Ca.

I specialize in trauma-informed care, working extensively with foster youth, families, and individuals navigating life's hardest seasons. I'm deeply committed to cultural humility and advocacy, and I bring that lens into the room—honoring who you are and standing alongside you. My approach draws on TBRI® (Trust-Based Relational Intervention), along with my CliftonStrengths perspective that helps me recognize and build on what's already strong in you, with warmth, faith-sensitivity, and deep respect for every person I work with.

My approach to therapy

I take a trauma-informed, relational approach grounded in attachment theory and TBRI®. My style is warm, collaborative, and strengths-based—informed by CliftonStrengths, I help you see and lean into your natural talents rather than focusing only on what's broken. Whether we're working through anxiety, family conflict, attachment wounds, or the aftermath of difficult experiences, I focus on building safety and connection first. I also welcome faith as part of the conversation when that matters to you.

What you can expect from me

Our first session is part gathering, part getting to know you. I'll collect some historical and assessment information and walk you through what I'm hearing, because I believe in empowering clients with knowledge so you can make informed decisions about your own care. From there, I simply take the time to listen and truly hear you—no pressure, no rush. My goal is to create a calm, judgment-free space where you feel understood, and together we'll begin shaping goals that feel meaningful to you.
