Great to meet you!

I've been helping people heal, learn, and grow for more than 20 years. I'm a psychotherapist, coach, teacher, and author of the best-selling book, Scared Selfless (Putnam, 2017), which explores the effects of child abuse and how to heal from it. I've appeared on Dr. Phil and Dr. Oz, and my writing on psychology has appeared in Psychology Today, The New York Times, and Time. Some areas of expertise include anxiety, panic attacks, depression, childhood trauma, PTSD, and Dissociative Disorders.

My approach to therapy

My greatest gift as a therapist is optimism. No matter how bad things may currently seem, I know my clients can overcome obstacles, process pain, and move on to happier, healthier, more purposeful lives. I believe all people have an innate capacity to grow into their authentic selves; they simply need the right conditions.

I consider it an honor to provide a healthy and healing environment in which my clients can grow.

What you can expect from me

I am a client-centered therapist who utilizes research-based treatments. I will partner with you to set your personal goals for therapy. Together, we will then work to achieve your goals. I see myself as an expert on change, while you are the expert on your own life!
