Great to meet you!

Hi, I’m Dr. Michel’le M. Williams, PhD, LPC. I’m a licensed professional counselor who believes therapy should be a space where you can be your authentic self, feel genuinely heard, and work toward meaningful change without judgment. With more than seven years of experience in the mental health field, I have had the opportunity to support individuals navigating anxiety, depression, self-esteem, relationship challenges, life transitions, family concerns, and the many pressures that come with adulthood.

I earned my doctorate in Counselor Education and Supervision and my master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. My counseling approach is primarily person-centered and integrative, meaning I draw from evidence-based approaches and tailor treatment to your individual needs, personality, experiences, and goals. I believe you are the expert on your own life, and my role is to provide support, perspective, tools, and a safe space to help you better understand yourself and move forward.

I especially enjoy working with young adults and individuals who may feel overwhelmed by expectations, relationships, major life changes, or the pressure to have everything figured out. Whether you are struggling with your mental health, working through difficult relationships, trying to build confidence, or simply feeling stuck, you do not have to navigate it alone.

My goal is to create a therapeutic relationship that feels collaborative, comfortable, and genuine. I want you to leave therapy not only with greater insight, but with practical tools and a stronger sense of confidence in your ability to navigate life.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is compassionate, collaborative, and person-centered. I believe therapy should be a space where you feel safe enough to be honest, understood without judgment, and supported as you work toward the changes you want to make. Rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach, I tailor therapy to your individual experiences, needs, strengths, and goals.

I use an integrative approach, incorporating evidence-based techniques from approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing, and trauma-informed practices. Depending on what you need, our work may focus on developing healthier thought patterns, improving emotional regulation, strengthening relationships and communication, building self-esteem, establishing boundaries, or navigating major life transitions.

I particularly enjoy working with young adults and individuals who are navigating anxiety, depression, relationship concerns, self-esteem, family challenges, identity development, and the pressures that often come with adulthood. I also believe that therapy should be practical and relevant to your everyday life, so we may incorporate activities, reflection exercises, skill-building, and real-life strategies into our sessions.

Most importantly, I see therapy as a partnership. You do not have to have everything figured out before you begin. We will work together to better understand where you are, where you want to go, and what steps can help you get there.

What you can expect from me

Your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another and begin creating a comfortable, supportive, and judgment-free space. We will talk about what brought you to therapy, what you are currently experiencing, and what you hope to gain from counseling. I will also ask questions about your history, relationships, strengths, and the areas of your life that may be contributing to your current concerns.

You can expect our conversation to be collaborative rather than feeling like an interrogation or checklist. My goal is to understand you as a whole person—not simply a diagnosis or presenting concern. Together, we will begin identifying meaningful goals for therapy and discussing practical ways we can work toward them.

Most importantly, I want you to leave your first session feeling heard, respected, and hopeful about the therapeutic process. You do not need to have everything figured out before coming in. We will take the process one step at a time and build a treatment approach that feels appropriate for you.
