Great to meet you!

Are you feeling overwhelmed by anxiety, depression, stress, or relationship challenges? Many individuals find themselves stuck despite wanting meaningful change, especially when emotional distress begins to interfere with daily functioning and overall well-being. Therapy offers a structured and supportive space to better understand these challenges and develop effective coping strategies. Seeking professional support is an important first step, and meaningful change occurs through intentional work both in and outside the therapy setting.

My name is Mick Desrameaux, LMHC, and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with extensive experience treating anxiety disorders, depression, trauma-related symptoms, substance use concerns, and co-occurring mental health conditions. I work collaboratively with clients to increase self-awareness, emotional regulation, and insight into patterns that affect relationships and personal growth. My therapeutic approach is grounded in evidence-based practices, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), mindfulness, and motivational interviewing.

I provide a safe, confidential, and nonjudgmental therapy environment where clients feel respected and supported. My goal is to help individuals feel empowered, build healthier relationships, and develop practical skills for long-term emotional stability. I am committed to delivering client-centered, ethical, and culturally responsive mental health counseling, supporting clients as they move toward greater balance, resilience, and overall mental wellness.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is client-centered, collaborative, and trauma-informed, with a strong emphasis on creating a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment. I work to ensure clients feel heard, respected, and empowered to actively engage in their treatment process. I believe meaningful and lasting change occurs when individuals gain insight into their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors while developing practical skills they can apply in daily life beyond the therapy session.

I integrate evidence-based therapeutic modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and mindfulness-based interventions. Treatment is tailored to each client’s unique needs, diagnoses, and readiness for change. My clinical focus includes emotional regulation, distress tolerance, relapse prevention, anxiety and depression management, trauma recovery, and strengthening coping strategies, particularly for individuals experiencing co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders. I also have experience supporting men’s mental health, relationship challenges, and life stressors that impact emotional well-being.

I utilize a strengths-based, goal-oriented framework that emphasizes resilience while addressing patterns that contribute to emotional distress, maladaptive behaviors, or impaired functioning. Treatment planning is collaborative and regularly reviewed to ensure goals remain clinically appropriate, meaningful, and aligned with the client’s progress. My overall goal is to help clients build self-awareness, emotional stability, and confidence in their ability to manage challenges, maintain recovery, and improve overall quality of life both during treatment and long after therapy concludes.

What you can expect from me

In the first session, clients can expect a welcoming, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where the focus is on understanding who they are and what brings them to therapy. I prioritize helping clients feel safe, heard, and respected, especially since starting therapy can feel overwhelming or uncertain. There is no pressure to share more than they’re ready for.

We’ll spend time discussing current concerns, symptoms, and stressors, as well as relevant background information that helps me understand the client’s experiences more fully. I also review treatment goals, explain how therapy works, and clarify expectations so clients know what the process will look like moving forward.

I assess strengths, coping patterns, and immediate needs, including safety or crisis concerns when appropriate, while remaining collaborative and transparent throughout the session. I may offer initial feedback, psychoeducation, or simple grounding or coping strategies that clients can begin using right away.

By the end of the session, clients can expect to have a clearer understanding of their challenges, an initial sense of direction for treatment, and a plan for next steps. My goal is for clients to leave feeling supported, informed, and hopeful about the work ahead.
