Great to meet you!

Hello, my name is Miguel A. Diaz and I am a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) with a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree. I was born and raised in rural South Texas, which gives me a deep understanding of the unique challenges our local communities face when it comes to mental health care. My experience as a U.S. Army veteran has taught me the importance of resilience, service, and compassion—values I bring to every client relationship.

I specialize in providing psychiatric evaluation, medication management, and treatment for a wide range of mental health concerns, including anxiety, depression, and ADHD. My practice focuses on increasing access to care for children, adolescents, adults, and seniors, especially those living in underserved rural areas. Whether you’re new to mental health treatment or looking for ongoing support, you can expect care that is empathetic, evidence-based, and tailored to your individual needs.

I welcome you to reach out and take that first step toward improving your well-being.

My approach to therapy

The approach to care is collaborative, client-centered, and rooted in evidence-based practice. The goal is to create a safe, supportive environment where clients feel heard and empowered throughout their mental health journey.

Comprehensive psychiatric assessments are performed to develop an individualized treatment plan that honors each person's unique needs and experiences. Treatment often combines medication management with supportive counseling and psychoeducation, especially for conditions such as ADHD, anxiety, depression, and mood disorders.

Telehealth is used to ensure accessible care for rural South Texas communities, prioritizing convenience, privacy, and continuity of care. Open communication and shared decision-making are emphasized, and families are actively engaged when appropriate to foster support and healing.

What you can expect from me

Clients can expect a welcoming, respectful, and judgment-free environment in their first session with me. I begin by listening closely to your concerns, background, and goals, making sure you feel heard and understood right from the start. The session includes a thorough assessment of your mental health history, current challenges, and any specific symptoms or stresses you’re experiencing.

Together, we identify your priorities and discuss what you hope to achieve through treatment. I’ll explain how our collaborative approach works and outline treatment options suited to your needs, whether that’s medication management, supportive counseling, or connecting you with resources in the community. My goal is for you to leave your first appointment feeling empowered, informed, and confident about your next steps—knowing you have a partner who genuinely cares about your well-being.
