I'm Mike Ellis, and I specialize in helping parents and loved ones of addicts and alcoholics create a home environment that fosters lasting recovery.

I founded Advocate to Awareness nonprofit in 2015 which has provided teaching /consultation services for schools and various service providers. The program initiatives address substance abuse and addictions among youth and young adults.

I worked as an in-home therapist to assist families develop coping skills to assist loved ones manage anger and drug related issues for 15 years. I have also worked at Honor Ridge Academy School located in Clark, NJ as a School Counselor/Behavioral Manager since 2007.

My approach to therapy

My approach involves teaching caregivers how to provide the necessary support for their addicted loved ones, maximizing the chances of a successful and enduring recovery.

I am able to adapt to each clients' specific needs.

What you can expect from me

Rapport building is one of my primary objectives. This is to make the client feel safe in sharing feelings and expressing emotional concerns.

We want to ensure that the client is comfortable. We are not here to shame or label, we want to understand you.

You can expect a collaboration, since recovery does not have to be a solo journey.
