Mildred Phillips

My name is Mildred Phillips! I answer to the name Mimi as well! I graduated fro Florida State University in 1973 with a Master Degree of Social Worker! I initially started my career at Hillsborough Community Mental Health Center! My experience here started with Family Therapy, Play Therapy, Marital Therapy, Group Therapy and Individual Therapy! I later moved on to the Veteran

Hospital where I worked on the Psychiatric Unit for over 10 years before moving into the private sector.

Throughout my practice I have use several treatment model. Carl Rogers was one of my favorite in the past! Presently I bring some of the old style with me in my present treatment model! Cognitive Behavioral is one that has proven to be very effective with many of the clients I see in therapy! But, I also incorporate Solution Focus, and Mindfulness with other short termed treatment modalities. I believe that short termed treatment to be very effective in my treatment of clients.

When a client enter treatment they come with a problem to be addressed! The goal in treatment is to identify their goal and develop a treatment to obtain that goal. I want the treatment to focus on what the client needs. If depression is the problem, then we will identify the symptoms!. In

some cases referred to see a psychiatrist for medication might be advisable. In these cases, the client will be referred out to be evaluated along with individual therapy to continue.
